A student putting a book in the book suggestion box

Welcome to the Laurel Meadow Elementary School Library page. We believe that with diligence and access to the right tools, everybody can succeed. Our staff is happy to help. Be sure to come in often.

The Laurel Meadow Library Media Center functions as the information center for the school, providing its patrons with opportunities to develop a love for reading as well as the research skills they will need to enjoy lifelong learning. The LMES library provides reading motivation and library classes that instruct students in library awareness skills, multiple literacy instruction, and inquiry-based learning.

We strive to encourage students to read for pleasure, knowledge, and ideas; become independent library users throughout their lives; recognize and critique various literary forms, genres, and literary awards; and use appropriate information sources to form new understandings and construct new knowledge.

Policies and Procedures

All students check out books during their weekly class library time. Kindergarten students may check out one book every week, while first through fifth graders may check out two books. In order to be able to check out a new book every week, you must have returned your library book before your weekly class library time. Students may renew books but must bring them back to the library to be scanned again.

If the student fails to bring in the library book or it is lost or damaged, the book must be replaced (hardback), or payment for the cost should be sent to the library.
